Ever wonder if you should really be tipping at all-inclusive resorts that you are staying at?
When you book an all-inclusive vacation most times you do so in order to get all the perks of the vacation in one affordable price budget. However, the one thing that leaves most people wondering is should they tip their servers and bartenders during their trip even if they paid the all-inclusive price?
Well, there really is no easy answer to that, while some resorts will tell you that the 20% gratuity is included in your all-inclusive price you canโt really be sure that that 20% is going fully to the servers. If you stay somewhere for 7 days which is the typical vacation stay in all-inclusive resorts is that 20% added onto each meal and beverage โpurchaseโ each and every day or is it a one time 20% fee that was reached by an average guess as to how much you will spend?
The point is this, you donโt really know if all the servers you have during your vacation are all being tipped fairly. If they are doing an exceptional job, it might be nice to have a little extra tip thrown their way. While there is no written or unwritten rule when it comes to tipping at all-inclusive resorts, it really be is up to the individual. If you feel that your server did an exceptional job then why not leave a little extra, maybe not the typical 20% but just a little something more to show the serve you took notice and appreciated their hospitality.
Before you go tipping your service people though, perhaps double check with management. You just want to be sure that if you leave a tip for an employee two things wonโt happen. Firstly, the employee will be in trouble for accepting your tip and second that the employee will not have to put their tip into a โmain potโ that gets split among all those working that shift or that evening. While the second situation of โtip sharingโ is not very common among normal servers or bartenders you can never be sure when it comes to tipping at all-inclusive resorts, so when in doubt ask a member of management.
In the end it boils down to your personal preference and desire, if you want to tip or gratuity, there really is no law stopping you and if you donโt want to tip again there is no law forcing you to do so, so leave it open to your discretion when it comes to tipping at all-inclusive resorts that you are staying at.
