MARRIOTT HOTELS AND RESORTS
Marriott Hotels and Resorts is evolving travel through every aspect of the guest’s stay. They take pride in leading the travel industry with a focus on new innovations. The company was founded by J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott in 1927. Their son, J.W. “Bill” Marriott, Jr., grew up working in the family business and spent more than 50 years shaping it into one of the world’s leading hospitality companies.
The Marriott Hotels chain began with two motels in the 1950s. The first opened as a Quality Inn airport motel near Washington D.C. and another motel nearby, the Twin Bridges, a few years later. With the opening of the second motel, Marriott was born as a brand name. By 1975, Marriott Hotels and Resorts had expanded to Europe, including the opening of the Amsterdam Marriott.
By 1999, there were over 360 Marriott Hotels and Resorts in 47 countries, and in 2012 Marriott Hotels celebrated the opening of the 500th Marriott Hotels properties. Marriott Brands include: The Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott, W Hotels, Sheraton, Westin, Renaissance Hotels, Gaylord Hotels and so much more!
