Gay for straight vacations? It’s happening. On your next trip to your favorite vacation resort you might see more gay or lesbian couples, but that really shouldn’t shock you. The gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender community have been gaining more and more ground in society as a whole lately. The recent Supreme Court ruling they are coming out and stretching their legs even more so. Sometimes in good ways, sometimes in bad.
There are reports of employees seeing more and more gay and lesbian couples flocking to popular resorts like Sandals Resorts and Beaches Resorts each year, while there could be a million reasons for this the main reason that comes to mind right now is that Americans as a whole have to be accepting and tolerant of the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender community, especially after seeing that the Supreme Court backs their fight for equal rights.
Either way you look at it and no matter what your opinion on it is, the fact remains there are more gay and lesbian couples taking vacations to popular spots like Sandals and Beaches resorts. The other reason you might see more of the same sex couples around is that the resorts are being more open and accepting of people other than your typical heterosexual couple or family. The world sees there are more types of families out there than just a man and woman heterosexual family with children. You have single parents, same sex parents; even grandparents raising children, families come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and backgrounds today and in order for the resorts not to fall into a pit of failure they need to support those people who might be living a different lifestyle.
While you are still able to exercise your religious freedom rights, for now, here in America if you travel to another country to take your vacation on a resort you may not be able to voice your acceptance or non-acceptance so freely. The same goes for resorts and their employees at these gay for straight vacations. If these resorts want to keep their profits increasing they need to put their personal convictions aside and be willing to cater to any paying customer, after all you know the age old saying, “The customer is always right.”
So, the next time you are planning a family vacation this is just a little something to keep in mind.
